Class 4 visit Kentwell Hall

Today class 4 went to Kentwell Hall to take part in a re- enactment of life in Tudor times.

The first challenge was to be allowed into the grounds of the Hall! The guard was very serious and expected us to be able to tell him about the Progress of Queen Elizabeth in the year of 1578.

Immediately we were joining in with festivities; we took part in a Tudor dance, dancing to the music of Tudor players.

After seeing the blacksmiths at work, we were met outside the house by the housekeeper, who showed us into the kitchen.

We learnt to write as a Tudor, or about Coats of Arms, watched some rich Tudor people dancing and visited the dairy, bakery and brewhouse, before making potions and meeting the alchemist.

Outside the Hall we went into the Camera Obscura where we saw an image of our friends, but upside down! Then we visited archers and woodsmen, before one last photograph of us outside Kentwell Hall; a memento of a fabulous day and one more of our 100 Memorable Events...

Light

Today Class 4 have been exploring how light travels. Here are some photos of us doing activities to experiment with light:

Can you use mirrors to shine torchlight onto a post-it target?

Can you use mirrors to see the object on top of the table?

It was fun!

Here is one of our diagrams to show how the light travelled:
