Holt Hall Residential 2016

After dinner we spent some time in the Games room

To ensure we slept well tonight we went out to play on the play equipment , football, volleyball and tree climbing.

And to ensure we slept really well we went out for a bat walk in the grounds of Holt Hall. We use bat detectors that detected bat sounds.

What beautiful flowers!

Although we had a lovely walk, we didn't see or hear any bats at all.

Holt Hall Residential 2016

We arrived  at Holt Hall after a fairly long journey  taking what must have been the scenic route!   After a settling - in talk , fire alarm test and sorting out our rooms , we headed off to West Runton to do some rock pooling.

A Hermit crab !

After rock pooling, we went to look at the   sediment layers in the cliff that have built up over thousands of years; the West Runton mammoth was found here.

Back to Holt Hall for dinner ...

More instalments later ....

Post SATs fun for year 6

Fun, freaky, fabulous Friday: the post SATs day of fun for Year 6 . The children chose some activities to do : decorating biscuits, free art, dodgeball, games outside and   Capture the flag.
Here are some of the pictures from their day.
Making butter icing !

Using the piping bags proved tricky, for some but not for all !

Great concentration was required  for the decorating .

Some interesting results !

After lunch, Class 4 had some free Arts with Year 5.

Last session of the day was P.E  with Capture the flag  and some fun warm ups and cool downs.

Ending with the Mummy game !!

What a lovely way to end SATs week .

Geography PowerPoint Presentstions

Today we have given our group PowerPoint presentations to the rest of the class. Each group found out about a different kind of extreme weather, by researching. We made notes, referencing them, then compiled out presentations on screen. These were edited and improved, before the final reveal...

Here we are, ready to present:

It appears that Maleficent was in Class 4 !

During the day we looked at Fibonacci's sequence using the book The Rabbit Problem by Emily Gravett

We read books we had never read before !

We  looked at The Arrival by Shaun Tan

We looked at the illustrations and found '10 things we notice  about the picture'.

Towards the end of day we listened to different stories read by different staff.

It was a booktastic day !
