Outdoor activities day at Horstead Centre

Beautiful Autumn weather saw Class 4 heading for Horstead Activity Centre for a superb day of outdoor activities on Monday 10th November 2014. We did team- building activities, climbing and high zipwire, archery and canoeing. It was fabulous, and so were Class 4.

Here are some photographs of our day:

We had such a great day...

Experimenting with shadows

Continuing with our 'Light' topic in Science, our groups have made up their own experiments to investigate shadows, given 1 torch, 1 Lego figure and 1 piece of card or paper! It was fun working in a dark classroom so that we could see the shadows better.

It will be interesting to see what we all found out...

Maasai Warriors

The Osiligi Maasai Warriors visited Bressingham School on Wednesday 8th October 2014. They entertained us with singing and dancing and answered our questions. Their sound, colour and action were  breath- taking!

Some of us were lucky enough to dance with them and we really enjoyed it when Mr King and Mr Porter joined the men in their high jumping.

This was one of our one hundred memorable events- experiencing different cultures- and one we will certainly remember for a long time!

Here we are with the Warriors...

Class 4 visit Kentwell Hall

Today class 4 went to Kentwell Hall to take part in a re- enactment of life in Tudor times.

The first challenge was to be allowed into the grounds of the Hall! The guard was very serious and expected us to be able to tell him about the Progress of Queen Elizabeth in the year of 1578.

Immediately we were joining in with festivities; we took part in a Tudor dance, dancing to the music of Tudor players.

After seeing the blacksmiths at work, we were met outside the house by the housekeeper, who showed us into the kitchen.

We learnt to write as a Tudor, or about Coats of Arms, watched some rich Tudor people dancing and visited the dairy, bakery and brewhouse, before making potions and meeting the alchemist.

Outside the Hall we went into the Camera Obscura where we saw an image of our friends, but upside down! Then we visited archers and woodsmen, before one last photograph of us outside Kentwell Hall; a memento of a fabulous day and one more of our 100 Memorable Events...

Light

Today Class 4 have been exploring how light travels. Here are some photos of us doing activities to experiment with light:

Can you use mirrors to shine torchlight onto a post-it target?

Can you use mirrors to see the object on top of the table?

It was fun!

Here is one of our diagrams to show how the light travelled:
