Making bags inspired by our Great Yarmouth topic

We have looked at various bag designs, chosen a purpose and a user for our bags and designed our own bags to suit these. Also, we have practised hand-stitching and machine-stitching different styles of stitches. Some prototypes have been made and now we are making our full-size bags...

Christmas decorations afternoon

Year 6 and some Year 5 children have, this afternoon, led their groups around the school to different bases, to carry out different craft activities. The groups were a mixture of children from all the different classes and many of the photographs will show older and younger children working together like a big family; we are very proud that our children love to work in this way.

Here are some photographs of the afternoon...

And here are our group leaders- well done to you all, and another memorable event achieved- you have led a group!

Make do and mend

Using our cutting and sewing skills we are creating silhouettes of London during the Blitz...

Welcome back Class 4

Our topic for this term is World War 2. We made gas masks.

Ready for an air raid.

We will base descriptive writing on our topic, so we are busy collecting fantastic figurative language, powerful verbs and creative openers.

Today we were wartime children - every time we heard an air raid siren we had to put on our gas masks and scramble quickly to get under the table for shelter. We woke up the whole school!
